Marc Márquez revela el momento en el que se planteó la retirada en MotoGP

Marc Márquez is once again enjoying MotoGP. The eight-time world champion, after a severe injury to his right arm that kept him sidelined for several seasons, and a few years at Honda where the bike was not competitive enough to win championships, decided to make a major change in his career by signing with the Gresini Ducati team.

After nine Grands Prix this year, he is in third place in the overall standings, 56 points behind the leader. Márquez has not yet achieved any victories with the Ducati Desmosedici GP23, but he has managed to get on the podium in five Sprint races and four Sunday races. The latest was at Sachsenring, where he finished second after a fantastic comeback from 13th position on the starting grid.

But to reach this moment, the ’93’ has endured a lot during the process. So much so that in statements to ‘Speedweek’, he admitted that he seriously considered hanging up his helmet and leathers: “A year ago, after the Assen race, I thought about quitting. It would have been a catastrophic end to my career. Fortunately, there was a long summer break after that race, and I had enough time to rebuild my body, my mind, and my mentality. That helped me a lot to start the second half of the season with a different approach. If I had stopped, I would always have had the question in my head: ‘What if I could get another bike? What if I waited a bit longer? What if I kept the pressure high?’ Honda understood me and also realized that they themselves needed time”.

In the 2025 season, Marc Márquez will race for the official Ducati team and will be teammates with Pecco Bagnaia. The eight-time world champion has signed a two-year contract with the Borgo Panigale team, so he will be wearing red for two seasons.
